santa rosa. little breezy in santa rosa this morning. 50 for oakland outside the door. 49 mountain view. afternoon highs for today upper 50s, low 60s, 61 santa rose a. we will be clearing out so i expect mostly sunny skies, 60 concord, down in to the south bay around 60 degrees. 61 loss gatos. the extended forecast, a warmer day tomorrow. once the ridge moves back n the winds will lighten up as well. not as strong for tomorrow afternoon. tomorrow looks to be the better day to be outside but today not so bad. into monday, tuesday, wednesday we don't budge a lot. in to the last week of february we are dry. if you are going to the new year parade i will have the outlook of your temperatures. >> breaking news to report on the east coast. the massachusetts institute of technology is on lockdown after a man with a rifle was seen in a building, several law enforcement agencies have responded to the campus in cambridge massachusetts. mit officials are telling students and workers to stay inside and report suspicious activity to campus police. we will have more of course on this breaking story

good windchills. livermore and santa rosa reporting windchills in the 20s. it's cold for some but a dry forecast this week. you get a good look at that offshore right there. everything going off the coast. that means temperatures anywhere from 30s almost upper 20s to near 50. that 50 is half-moon bay with an offshore breeze. santa rosa 31. that puts their windchill 27. and livermore 26 with an east wind. you can see some of the north wind at napa 8. fairfield north. northeast at oakland. gives you an idea of what is going on. temperatures once they get going will warm up. the warmest temps will be coast and bay or santa rosa which benefits from that north wind. sunny and breezy today. a cold, cold morning. 50s and 60s. low to mid. in fact, this may be the coolest day of the week. we will see warmer temps kick in on tuesday and carry us right probably into friday. pretty good fine line here. each day temps will be warming up here. high pressure sets in on the west coast. over all it looks like a quiet pattern. >>> time now 6:10. bracing for a doctor shortage here in california. what is c

our roof top, don't see much cloud cover. check out the temperatures. they have dropped. san rosa currently 52. san jose 54. downtown san francisco only 51. inland, kind of like summertime. 61degrees in livermore right now. as you can guess, the radar is dry. man, has it been a big change. november and december combined in san rosa you had 20 inches of rain. january and the first week of february you have had less than one inch of rain. i don't see much changing over the next several days. another chilly night tonight. concord, livermore. redwood city for 9 degrees. with this on shore flow we will see the temperatures stay below normal. you can see a big low pressure area over my shoulder. this will shove a front in the bay area eventually. the on shore will keep most of us in the 50s tuesday and wednesday. dry part goes away on thursday as a weak front moves through. we will see some scattered showers. low to mid 50s for highs on thursday and friday. temperatures stay low because that on shore flow and fog. some showers return with that fro

for the entire year. santa rosa is at 100% now and falling, san francisco at 91%, 88% in san jose, those numbers are amazing considering how little rain we got the last two months. december was off the hook. we got a ton of rain and that's keeping us in the game. there's some rain out there the middle and end of next week. we'll see how that goes. these are current temperatures. forecast lows will be in the mid-and upper 30s, so pretty chilly out there now, plenty of frost tomorrow morning when you wake up, santa rosa 33, 35 at napa, doesn't have to be freezing to get frost. ever notice how it freezes on that front windshield because the inside of the car gets colder than the ground. so certain surfaces like windshields and cars get frost more easily, but you don't need freezing temperatures. sunny and mild tomorrow, extended forecast calling for warmer temperature. the high pressure sets up a warming trend and northerly breeze, stays with us not just tomorrow but through friday and then it breaks down. s that starts to break down -- as that starts to break down we got a shot of something coming

developing. it's not too bad right now. six miles and/or less in santa rosa. but for tomorrow morning looks like the patchy fog at 2 miles and/or less would be confined right here to the north bay. let's take you live outside in the hd sky camera network. more of the poor air quality in the south bay, and then right up into emeryville, looking towards san francisco. and it's clear. we can't rule out a little bit of fog that will make it right across the golden gate bridge for tomorrow. let's get you back into the weather mix. high pressure offshore. this will keep it dry. we are just begging for some sort of raindrop. it looks like that ♪ is not going to be possible until some time next week. we have that coming up in the seven-day forecast for tomorrow. 50s and 60s, plenty of sunshine throughout the afternoon. and for those interior valleys, a mix of 60s, and then eventually some 70s coming in that seven-day forecast with a few 70s there. we think that will sort of pop on the weather board by thursday. if you do suffer from allergies, you'll want to get outside. you'll want to enjoy this

and really there is not much. santa rosa 38, livermore 36, 39 and i have seen some upper 30s. a little southeast at napa, for us sunny today, except for a few high clouds, temperatures continue to warm up, and we go to above if not tomorrow, thursday into friday. mid-60s, 67 in brentwood, 63 mountain view, redwood city 65. a few clouds on thursday, but it does not matter, we say hello with the temperatures. >>> a great storm in the great plains is barreling into the midwest. look outside amarillo texas, this is yesterday. they had hurricane force winds and 17-inch happens of snow on the ground trapped drivers on the highway for more than nine hours. >> we declared a state of emergency for kansas city missouri and we tried to give as much notice as possible for that potentiality. >> reporter: forecasters say the storm will hit the upper midwest next and they will have more before it moves. >>> water is trickling down from the sierra. >>> and more information from a police officer, we have more on the stun being way loved ones found out their loved ones had been killed. >>> we have more

, 39 areas around concord. these are some of the cooler spots but areas like santa rosa still warmer with the high clouds overhead. where the high died clouds are coming from. we have a weak disturbance that will continue north and east. for the afternoon partly cloudy, mostly sunny as the system move out of the way. a second system here going to also brush just the northern edge of california. the two combined will equal a minor cooldown and a return to the on shore flow that will happen later this afternoon. partly cloudy this morning, temperatures in the upper 30s to low to mid40s. a few low 40s as well as along the coastline. the on shore breeze will come back. that will lead to the low clouds, perhaps as early as tomorrow morning. temperatures today a few degrees cooler than yesterday and most cases, near the coastline with the on shore breeze we could see about five to ten degrees drop from yesterday afternoon. take a look here you can see the clouds moving through, probably about noontime, one, beginning to clear out and for your afternoon mostly sunny to partly cloudy, we do

at fairfield. 42 up in santa rosa. quite chilly in the inland valley of the east bay and the north bay during overnight hours so mostly clear cold overnight sunny dry this weekend and much milder pattern will settle in for next week. let's talk about the low. we'll see low pressure dropping below freezing and quite a few location especially the north bay valley upper 20's santa rosa and napa down to 30 at fairfield. low 30's at livermore and concord so chilly all i know land cell and chilly around the bayshore line as well. satellite radar composite image shows storm brought us showers yesterday now pushing through southern cam. it produced snow this evening in the hills around los angeles county but we here in the bay area are drying out now with the nice cold dry flow of wednesday from the north come did you know riding the jet stream through the bay area and high pressure building in now and dry pattern will hold right on through fix week. not only dry but it's milder as the indicate goes by. tomorrow sunny pleasant with high pressure in the south bay mainly in the upper 50's. look

in santa rosa. that's fairly warm. 61 in antioch and 56 in hayward. so forecast highs tomorrow, warmer than what we had today. overnight lows will be chilly. there's been some wind out there. a little breezy. these are the current wind observations. we have a north wind at 18. west wind out here at 15. so the winds kind of brisk out here. kind of chilly. even though you're hitting upper 50s, upper 60s the wind really creates a windchill for you. there's your freezing in napa. what's interesting here, i got a 35 in santa rosa but if you go out to the rincon valley, east of town. if you go west of town out toward sebasta pool. you will find freezing temperatures. we have frost too. we'll see it again tomorrow morning. that's it for rain. we're not going to see any rain coming up here. really until we get into late friday night. early saturday morning. we'll talk more about that. but first we start with the overnight lows. purples are 30. that's just a broad brush. it's not exact but it's nice that they're mapping it. it shows you how chilly the entire bay area is going to be. even around the

we did see warmer temperatures. 60s in santa rosa. 59 in napa. cooling off right now we are going to start to see some rapid cooling. as that sunshine is gone down. novado.n livermore plenty of 30's expected. taking a look at the weather headlines. clear and cold tonight. and temperatures are going to be chilly. we will see breezy conditions. the coast. we will be dealing with 30's. temperatures will warm up and for the upper 50s we will continue that warming trend. and 60s by monday. with more on that first, let us take a look at what we can expect tomorrow. this peak cooling will be indicated by these 20's and 30's to a slow climb into the 50s. if you do have evening plans a jacket is in order. cold in santa rosa. 30's also in santa rosa, napa. also in redwood city. for the east bay. upper 50s and concord, and livermore near the coast. temperatures will be in the '50s with a few areas near san francisco and napa. drier conditions. in fact, no rain, no snow. a drier conditions for the week. slowly edging up. low 60s by the end of the week. we will keep you posted. >> pam: let us

with 39. 47 in santa rosa and 43 in napa. what those colder temperatures are doing right now is hoping to squeeze out any available moisture in the atmosphere and that is helping to create some low clouds and some areas of patchy fog. granted, visibility isn't too bad. it is six miles and or less. by tomorrow morning, we are going to see that visibility reduced. let's take you outside our live network. you can see we do have the cloud cover here toward the top of the screen. as we take you into emeryville also near the top of the screen, if you got that hd set finely tune, you will notice the cloud cover. in san rafael, it is pretty raisy. let's get you back to the weather boards and what we are tracking is a pretty active area of pacific moisture. this area of low pressure is winding up out here about a thousand miles offshore. the problem with this is all that rainfall will be yet again heading into seattle. the larger thing i'm seeing is the jet stream will be pushing right off the south. that will allow this foggy pattern in the morning and then cooler afternoon temperatures as we

50s outside. oakland 53. livermore 50. santa rosa warm at 56. concord 53. san jose 51. hello, sunshine. 39 days into the year, get this, 36 of those 39 days have been partly or mostly sunny. that is crazy for wintertime. guess what. the next seven are all going to be sunny. that means clear nights and still early february it's going to be cold tonight near freezing for concord, livermore, fremont, oakland 39. santa rosa you'll likely dip below freezing in napa and fairfield hitting freezing. the radar is clear. the low pressure system gave us showers last night and early this morning. that's now gone. let's follow the moisture. this low pressure area moved north to south now seeing some showers in deep southern california, los angeles, san diego getting showers even las vegas may get a few sprinkles from this but now it's all about dry air moving in on the eastern plains of a high pressure dome that simply will not move for the next 10 days. so it's off to the west by rule of nature, winds going clockwise around high pressure so it's going

is good to go for sunshine and the city is 47. i saw a bunch of readings 46 to 44, santa rosa has a north wind and that's why they are at 42 and 42 in napa. some areas you get that breeze and it's a little bit warmer than what we saw yesterday at this time. napa is 32 and that north breeze is holding up for some. blustery conditions in some of the higher elevations and it's going to be a another sunny mild -- going to be another sunny or mild warm day. temperatures in the 60s to upper 60s possibly if you get enough of that north breeze. 65 and 60s, a little bit cooler by the coast and still nice. a weak system brushes us thursday. friday looks to be the warmest day and with your weekend in view, it looks nice but it is always cooler. >>> the government sent stocks down after all the major pacific markets, they are concerned about how this will affect the global economy. this is dropping 2 and a quarter percent and china and hong kong closed at 1%. checking in on our numbers, they started responding well to the european markets and i did say early on, i was not sure how the markets were co

is under 100% of the season. in the immediate bay area, santa rosa is now 99% of normal. san francisco 90 and san jose, 86. we were doing so well until january came and february is not looking much better. there's really not any screaming message that says rain, rain, rain. not a lot. warmer this week as high pressure builds in. our system continues to march across the country. it's snowing cincinnati. down towards memphis and then rain in the deep south and then heading into the carolinas and even parts of jacksonville. we could pick up .25. they pick up a wide variety of weather. 30s for temperatures or 40s. temperatures will hold now that the fog has formed. high pressure says i will make it nice and warm a little later. but a lot of morning fog and then plenty of sunshine. 50s, 60s. st. helena, clearlake, ukiah, 67 to 68. 63 walnut creek, 63 alameda and berkeley. a little bit more of a summertime pattern even though it's a very small scale. temperatures will beer warmer inland -- will be warmer inland. tomorrow looks warmer. we'll carry that into friday. >> thank you, steve. >>> barry

in santa rosa. napa was 65 degrees. look at antioch at 66. you're touching on upper 60s here. i'm sure some areas did get into the upper 60s. san mateo was 61 degrees. we're tracking this system as it comes down. i wish it would bring us a lot of rain but it's not going to. numbers are going to go from where they were today which is some mid-60s and low 60s down to the mid-60s. we will probably see most temperatures in the 50s so cooler tomorrow. current temperatures 66 in concord, 69 in antioch. the system as it comes in will increase the clouds and will bring us a slight chance of a sprinkle as we go into late tonight early tomorrow morning but we're all asleep. you're not going to notice it. you may wake up with a little bit of wet on the ground. i think it'll get breezy tomorrow afternoon as that system clears out. so it'll be a crisp clear day probably need a jacket or sweatshirt. with the wind the 50s will feel clearer than that. frost in some of the inland bay valleys. just above freezing in the coldest spots and upper 30s low 40s. this is a system i'm tracking. they're supposed to

in santa rosa. much colder in the north bay. a rough 2 degrees in napa. down to 28 last hour. 31 livermore and 33 in concord. some patchy frost from our north and east bay valleys and getting close around fremont and redwood city in the mid-30s here with 34 on the coast. looking at 44 san francisco. 33 in watsonville and certainly as cold as it was yesterday in gilroy at 29 degrees. 34 in salinas. so yesterday it was quite cold in our south and east bay. this morning with the lack of wind it's even colder in the north bay. look at the delta. 15 degrees colder. but we will get some offshore wind tonight and that will bring perhaps our temperatures up a little bit in our valleys. so it's a frosty start in parts of the bay. sunny today with increasing northeast winds and a gradual warming trend, taking us through the upcoming work week. in fact that includes valentine's day. by next weekend still dry and we are getting toward the president's day holiday, but we will see a cooler air mass. that's what we have right now is this trough of low pressure lingers in southern california. that's allow

around the coast and 40s around the bay and inland. right now we're missing that number for santa rosa. 3 2 at concord. big high tides today at about 10:20 a.m. for the entire coast. plus t means the low-lying flooding and the usual places here. the low tides this afternoon just before 5:00 p.m. and as we look at the approach of the bay bridge, sunny and a cold start. today will be dry and cool and a dry week ahead too. there is not a drop of rain in sight. we'll head down to the pennsylvania as you go to pebble beach. it looks like the old ben crosby will be nice and sunny. the numbers in the mid-50s. mostly sunny skies. they show a large dome of high pressure. as a result we've got a dry northwesterly slope. a good day to moisturize with the sunny skies, chilly conditions, out of the west at 15. your pinpoint forecast will be about 42 degrees in oakland. it will be down to 33 in santa rosa. and for tomorrow's highs, 60 in oakland. and 57 in pacifica and redwood cities. your extended forecast is sunny side up all the way through the weekend.

francisco 31 tied with livermore. oakland 59. concord 54. san jose 54. san francisco 51. santa rosa 57. relike to check the radar even if we have -- we like to check the radar even if we have clear skies. kpix 5 high-def doppler radar shows nothing offshore. we'll be dry. tomorrow morning chilly concord 37, san francisco 45. redwood city 38. and right around 40 for san jose tomorrow. here's the setup in the atmosphere because it's interesting because it's not for a lack of activity in the pacific ocean. sometimes there's just no moisture heading toward the west coast. there's nothing there so we don't have anything to worry about. in this case there's a tremendous amount of moisture moving toward the west coast but it's getting deflected to the north boy this ridge of high pressure and that ridge is strong enough that it's not allowing that rain to move down to the south. so we just will stay mainly dry. for the next three storms that ridge doesn't move so this pattern doesn't change. a lot of rainfall for other parts of the west coast namely ore
